39 Killed in Religion Dispute in Nigeria

At least 39 people are dead after an ethnic violence attack in Wukari, a town in Nigeria's Taraba state. Officials say that others were also injured in the violence that started during a funeral service that pitted the Jukun people against the Hausa Fulani. Later, officials placed the town on a 24-hour lockdown, forcing everyone indoors. This is not the first time something like this has happened in Wukari. In February, more than 20 people were killed in a similar attack.

Nigeria has more than 250 different ethnicities. Violence can be started over politics, business, grazing rights, religion and other issues.

This event took place in Wukari, a town in Nigeria's Taraba state.

This article relates to the social and intellectual PIES because it shows how many things can create disagreements. It also shows how if a conflict is not noticed early enough, it can be too late.

This article makes me think about how lucky I am to live in a country where peace is priority. I think that it is hard for the government to be involved in something like this because it happens all the time and is over so many different issues.
